With its clear, shallow waters, it offers a safer setting than ocean beaches and is popular with families with young children. Its very mild temperatures, up to 28 degrees in summer, are even more pleasant for enjoying swimming and water games.

A multitude of activities

The activities to practice on the lake of Cazaux are varied and offer multiple possibilities for the whole family in ideal conditions.
The nautical bases of Biscarrosse and Sanguinet, in Port Maguide or Port Navarrosse invite you to discover:

  • Kitesurfing
  • Boat rental
  • Parasailing
  • Inflatable water park (the largest in Europe)
  • Kayak and canoe

  • Sin

It is also a destination of choice for nature lovers. Wooded banks and wild creeks alternate over kilometers offering a breathtaking spectacle between lake and forest.
We then practice walks in the shade of the pines for lovers of hiking thanks to the many paths that run along the lake or its kilometers of cycle paths with a breathtaking view of the lake.

An exceptional fauna and flora

Cazaux Lake is a protected site, under the control of the National Forestry Office. Measures have been taken to protect the flora and fauna of the lake, including the establishment of protection zones, the prohibition of fishing and the cleaning of the banks. The flora of Lac de Cazaux is very varied and is mainly composed of freshwater species, saltwater species and aquatic plants. Aquatic plant species such as water lilies, water hyacinths, helophytes, charas, rushes and reeds can be found there. There are also plant species typical of wetlands, such as willows, alders and tamarisk.

The lake is also rich in wildlife and is an internationally important site for bird conservation. It is home to a great diversity of bird species, including many migratory species. Migratory birds that stay on the lake include shorebirds (Avocets, Woodcocks and Black-tailed Godwits) as well as swallows, swifts, ducks and geese. It is also one of the main breeding sites of the white stork in France, an endangered species that breeds mainly on lakes, bodies of water and ponds, as well as in marshes and wetlands. Waterfowl find an ideal habitat on the lake thanks to its wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial habitats.
There are also many species of fish, such as perch, carp, zander and pike.

To visit the lake of Cazaux is to treat yourself to a parenthesis of calm and serenity in a preserved environment. Nature lovers will find their happiness there and can spend unforgettable moments at the water's edge.
